Latest COVID Protocol Updates

Here is the latest information we have…

COVID QUESTIONS FOLLOW-UP
1. Coin Toss – A change – For all sub-varsity games, the Visitors team is deemed winner of the coin toss and chooses their option so talk to the visiting team coach first and find out if they want to defer or recieve. All varsity games will have a coin toss at the CHSAA office which will be communicated to the white hat prior to the game so talk to the winning coach first to find out if they want to defer or receive. No pregame meeting of any Captains at any level. At both varsity and sub-varsity levels, an overtime coin toss occurs with one Captain from each team.

2. Expanded Team Box – The expanded team box to each 10-yard line applies to all team personnel permitted in the team box, including coaches. If having the expanded team box causes additional conflict or problems with coaches, please add it to the varsity game report – be factual and specific.

3. Ball sanitizing – Teams/Ball personnel are not required to sanitize footballs during the game.

4. Common Sense Safety Options at all levels (in addition to mandates):
(a) Have the offense bring their ball out after a change of possession;
(b) After a scrimmage play, point the ball carrier physically and verbally to the Umpire to deliver the ball;
(c) Have A players recover the ball on incomplete passes and deliver it to the Umpire;
(d) Use players as necessary to throw and catch the ball from their own sideline (but not the opponent’s sideline);
(e) If the ball becomes wet on a dry day, send it out and get a replacement;
(f) Have the kicker bring the ball out on free kicks;
(g) Send the old ball off with a member of the kicking team after free kicks and punts;
(h) Maintain distance from teams during timeouts;
(i) Wings work close to the sideline;
(j) Wings briefly move away from a coach-QB meeting near the sideline and then resume position; and
(k) Head Lines keep the chain crew 2 full yards from the field at all times.

5. Flexibility – DFOA school districts are in various cities and counties and governed by various health departments. There will be differences based on city, county and health department regulations. There will also be differences based on local school district policies. Be flexible and assume that there will not be facilities or water available for officials.

ON FIELD AREA MEETING AT ENGLEWOOD HS STADIUM WED OCT 7 AT 6:30 PM WITH CREW CHIEF MEETING AT 5:45 PM
We will be under the lights on the stadium field at Englewood HS on Wednesday October 7 at 6:30 PM for an On Field Area Meeting. We will be meeting by positions with initial locations on the map below. You will move as a group with the position instructors to 3 different locations to demonstrate initial positioning, movement and coverage mechanics for various kicking, scrimmage and goal line plays. MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING ARE REQUIRED. Instructors who are distanced six feet may remove masks while actively instructing. You will not be running, practicing or required to touch anything.

The Crew Chief meeting will start promptly at 5:45 PM at the center of the North stands. Crew chiefs who cannot attend should send a crew representative.

SUB-VARSITY GAMES
All Cherry Creek schools will play their sub-varsity games sequentially on Saturdays at Stutler Bowl and Legacy Stadium, so there will be late afternoon and evening “marquee” sub-varsity games. Also, if we have enough officials working all sub-varsity 4-person games, some leagues will pay for 5 officials so additional self-assign openings may arise. If a date you want to work appears full, check back to see if new positions are open. The release of the sub-varsity schedule will mirror the release of the varsity schedule to make sure all of the varsity games are covered before sub-varsity games are assigned.
